Margaret Trudeau is a Canadian icon, celebrated both for her role in the public eye and as a respected mental-health issue advocate. Trudeau sits on the Executive Advisory Board of the UBC Mental Health Institute as a community advocate, and is an active WE Charity ambassador who has presented to crowds of 20,000+ people at WE Day events across the world. She is also the former honorary president of WaterAid, a charitable Canadian non-governmental agency that helps communities in developing countries build sustainable water supply and sanitation services.

Mala Latchmi Nivedita Sharma-Singh was born in London, England. Mala migrated to Canada in 1970. Mala conducted Landing Ceremonies and Citizenship Ceremonies for thousands of clients during her employment with Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
Mala has received the Federal Government Public Service and Loyalty award by the Prime Minister of Canada for her work with the federal Government of Canada. Mala has been involved with many Political Campaigns and has successfully raised funds for many Canadian politicians. Mala is a community influencer and activist and has been involved in many worthwhile charities such as the United Way, Heart and Stroke, the Canadian Cancer Society and Sick Children’s Hospital.

Michelle Meghie

Michelle joins the CBCC with an established track record of improving member/customer experiences in a broad range of organizations and sectors. Michelle brings extensive experience in government, governance, and non-profit institutions. Additionally, Michelle brings relevant expertise that supports the CBCC as it navigates through the complexities of a nation-wide post-pandemic world that is challenging the black businesses sector.
Michelle’s believes in collaborative leadership thus works closely with the Board and senior management to articulate strategy, as CBCC continues to deliver its vision to help black entrepreneurs and their businesses prosper and grow.
Prior to assuming her role as president, Michelle had an illustrious career in the public sector spanning over three decades with a focus on Community, Children and Social Services.
Michelle was honoured to be the first black woman to receive a public appointment to the Transitional Council for the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario. Upon proclamation she was appointment to the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario. The first self-regulatory body of its kind in the world. Within her tenure she chaired the Governance, Examination Appeals and Patient Relations Committees.
Michelle specializes in wedding and Baptism ceremonies, a passion which she transformed into a small business. As an Appointed Designated Minister, the Clergy Board was in full agreement and raise her to the rank of Ordained Minister. Numerous members of her community have benefited from her counselling ministry. Her background in the Social Services field, along with the giving of her time, her ability to listen, and her outgoing personality help guide and ground others in their journey.
Michelle values voluntary community service and embraces every opportunity to effect change in behaviour and the quality of life of people. She enjoys mentoring young people and is known for her commitment as an ambassador who has supported the United Way each year to raise funds to continue the important work they do.
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from York University, Diploma in Early Childhood Education from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology, and a certificate in Mental Health First Aid.
