Navigating Success, A Networking Workshop for New Immigrants

Jenny Kalimbet

community advocate & Political advisor

Hello My name is Jenny I’m a Ukrainian immigrant, that arrived to Canada almost 20 years ago with my family. Having faced the same difficulties experienced by many new immigrants in Canada, I progressed from my first job as a cleaner to a successful business owner in investment consulting and real estate.I also became a political candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada.
Having gained over 12 years experience in administration and management, I’ve been able to expand the depth of my knowledge gained from various organizations.

This made me an ideal fit in Etobicoke Centre’s constituency office of our local MPP, where I am responsible for addressing complex residents’ issues along with policy concerns & research. My  Degree in Humanities and Psychology from York University along with Public Administration from Humber College have aided in my ability to understand the challenges we face today.

Workshop Description: The Networking for Success workshop for new immigrants aims to empower participants with essential skills for professional integration. This workshop provides insights into cultural nuances and etiquette in networking, equipping immigrants with the confidence to navigate social and professional interactions in their new environment. Practical exercises and role-playing scenarios will allow participants to practice networking skills in a supportive environment, fostering collaboration and mutual support among peers.

What you can expect by attending: By the workshop’s end, participants leave with a strengthened network, enhanced communication skills, and a clear understanding of how to leverage their networks to pursue career advancement and achieve their professional goals in their new home.
